Randolph - our best number 2 keeper since...when?
Really impressed with this bloke, especially after a bit of a dodgy start. Who knows how long he will be happy in his current position, but I'd like to think he sees being in the Premier League plus playing in the cup, and going to the Euros, as a good step up so far. Plus a chance to play at the new stadium next season for a year at least. Seems like a good relationship between him and Adrian too.

I was trying to think last night though, when was the last time we had a second choice keeper of his quality? Ok, so Green was second choice for a bit but as soon as he got a chance it was clear he was going to be the number 1. Craig Forrest had his moments, but I can't think of anyone else going at least that far back - if not more so.

Can anyone else think of such a reliable number 2 in recent memory? I certainly can't.

Got cunted pre season by the screaming queens. He has been top drawer so we don't need to panic when one is injured

Stephen Death went on to play 10 years for Reading, and was their Player of the Season 4 times. He was only 5'7".

Not quite. His excellent league form doesn't mean he wasn't dodgy in pre-season. He was.

He's certainly redeemed himself since though.

We had Bobby Ferguson and Peter Grotier competing for the no 1 spot at a time and a fella called Stephen Death as our no 3. Can't remember if he ever played in the first team but he spent a lot of time on loan to Reading before signing for them

If memory serves me right he didn't play a game for us but always rated Raimond Van Der Gouw at Man Utd before he joined us, wasn't a bad option to call upon. Number 2 to to David James I believe.

I think he's as good as Adrian so we are lucky to have 2 top class keepers. It'll be a problem down the road as they'll both want the jersey - but it's a good problem if there is one..

Just goes to show the stick he had pre season was undeserved.

Randolph was signed on the strength of Phil Parkes advice to Sullivan.

I always liked Tom McAllister. And there was Colin Mackleworth, too, although I can't remember if he was any good. Got a feeling he went to Leicester.

I have a feeling Randolph is better than Adrian, but without the theatrics.....

More shrewd business from the club. It's almost as if it's not luck that we're finding these players. I'm fucking loving it.
